Services I provide:
College Station can be an easy place to belong when you know exactly where you fit. It can feel pretty lonely when you don’t. Maybe you came here for school, followed a partner here, stayed after graduation, or have no connection to A&M at all. You look around and it seems like everyone else has found their people and figured out who they’re supposed to be. Meanwhile, you’re overthinking what you say, worrying about what other people think, and trying to be the version of yourself that fits. After a while, it’s hard not to wonder: Is there something wrong with me?

Hi, I'm Kaitlin Parks, LPC-Associate Supervised by Cameron House, LPC-S at Roots Psychotherapy in College Station, TX!

I work with college students, adults, and couples, and I especially enjoy working with people who are trying to figure out who they are when they don’t quite feel like they fit. You may be struggling with self-doubt, questioning where you belong, or spending so much energy worrying about what other people think that it’s hard to know what you actually think.

I know what it’s like to move to College Station without an A&M connection and have to find your own sense of place here. In therapy, I want to offer you somewhere you don’t have to work so hard to fit in.

Your Therapy Experience

Therapy with me is a place where you can take off the mask a little and breathe. You don’t have to figure out the right thing to say or show me the version of yourself you think I want to see. I want there to be room for the honest parts of you, including the ones you’ve learned to hide or worry might be too much.

We’ll pay attention to the self-doubt and beliefs that keep you questioning yourself or changing who you are to fit in. I’ll support you, but I’ll also challenge some of those old assumptions when they’re getting in your way.

Over time, I want you to feel more comfortable being yourself, more accepting of the person you already are, and more confident making decisions based on what actually matters to you.

Specialties & Approach

A lot of the work I do comes back to the beliefs you’ve picked up about who you’re supposed to be. We’ll get curious about where those beliefs came from, how they affect the way you see yourself, and whether they still fit the person you want to be.

I work from a person-centered approach, which means you get to decide what matters to you and where you want to go. I’ll follow your lead, but I won’t be passive. Together, we can challenge the self-doubt and expectations that keep you stuck and make more room for choices that reflect your own values, goals, and relationships.

About Me

Having lived in California, Arizona, and Texas - I'm built for warm weather! Any activity where I can enjoy the sun is my favorite, but specifically, I love walking, hiking, and playing pickleball. If I'm not spending time outside, I'm either cheering on the Aggies with my family, trying out new recipes, or both! Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies and I truly believe that some of the best connection with others happens around a table with a cozy, home cooked meal.

"The best portion of a good person’s life is the little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.” - William Wordsworth
